Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport played either individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The game is played on a rectangular court, divided by a net, with players using rackets to strike a hollow rubber ball. The objective is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent is unable to return it within the court boundaries.

Tennis matches are structured in sets, with players needing to win a certain number of games to win a set. The scoring system includes points, games, and sets, with unique terminologies such as “love” (zero), “deuce,” and “advantage.”

Tennis has a rich history, with its origins dating back to the late 12th century, and it has evolved into a globally popular sport with professional tours and major tournaments, including the Grand Slam events: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. The sport is known for its significant physical and mental demands and has a diverse range of playing surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts.
